Most recently, Dr. Luc De Temmerman was President and Chief Executive Officer of Galata Chemicals, a global specialty chemicals company active mainly in the area of additives and modifiers to enhance or improve the durability of PVC and plastic substrates. The company was turned around resulting in improved productivity, market share and financial performance.

Previously, Dr. De Temmerman was Senior Vice President of Solutia Inc. and President of the Performance Products Division. He became a member of Solutia’s Executive Leadership Team in 2002. During his tenure he restructured businesses, closed down or sold unprofitable assets and focused on core activities of performance products and specialty chemicals, which were greatly expanded in the process. He acquired 100% of a Joint Venture in Mexico and built new production lines in Europe and North America but also in growth markets in China and Eastern Europe.

With the Solutia senior management team he successfully restructured the company out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and re-launched the public listing on the New York Stock Exchange. He has served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Flexsys Inc., a $700M Joint Venture of Solutia and AKZO Nobel. Currently he serves on the Board of Directors of Elia n.v, a Euronext Bel 20 listed company, on the Board of Advisors of Quercus Labo, a contract pharmaceutical analysis company and on the Board of Directors of several start-up companies.

Dr. De Temmerman holds a degree in business administration from Brussels University, Belgium, as well as a Master of Sciences degree in chemical engineering and a Doctorate in applied sciences from the University of Leuven, Belgium. He also holds the Certificate Board Effectiveness from Guberna Institute for Directors.
